Paladin Capital Group is pleased to announce that Richard Verma has been sworn in as the new US Ambassador to India after the US Senate unanimously confirmed President Obama’s nomination of Mr. Verma. As anticipated and in concert with policy, he has resigned his position on Paladin’s Strategic Advisory Group.

Most recently, Mr. Verma was an Assistant Secretary of State in the Obama Administration where he was a senior member of Secretary Clinton’s team. Earlier in his career, Mr. Verma served as the National Security Advisor to the Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid, playing a lead role over five years in shaping many consequential legislative initiatives involving counterterrorism, homeland security, and intelligence reform.
Mr. Verma is a veteran of the US Air Force, where he served on active duty as a Judge Advocate. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and serves on the Boards of the National Democratic Institute and Human Rights First. He is the recipient of the State Department’s Distinguished Service Award, and was a key member of President Obama’s National Security Campaign team in 2012, as well as the Department of Defense Transition Team in 2008. Mr. Verma holds degrees from the Georgetown University Law Center, American University’s Washington College of Law, and Lehigh University.
Mr. Verma has worked for more than two decades in international law and senior-level U.S. government positions guiding both senior government leadership and private enterprises through the complex fields of national security law, international regulatory compliance, and public policy. He currently serves as Senior Counselor to the Albright Stonebridge Group as well as the global law firm of Steptoe & Johnson LLP.
